Nutritional Needs

If you or someone you know is hungry, please don't hesitate to reach out to one of these agencies.  There is an abundance of resources out there to provide food for you and your family.

Provide food assistance. For $30, people can purchase $65-100 worth of groceries. The main Treasure Box will feed a family of four for about a week or an individual almost a month.

The suggested donation for lunch is $3.00, but a senior will not be turned away because they cannot pay. They also deliver meals for seniors that are homebound.

For those who do not qualify for primary aid programs, this program may help. General Relief (GR) is a small, County-funded, vouchers-only program.  The County provides limited funding directly to the housing provider. The program also provides for a modest food supplement.

For those who are at least 60 years old or married to someone who is at least 60 years, and additional criteria, one may qualify for home delivery meals. Congregate and home-delivered meals are provided throughout Riverside County. There is a suggested voluntary donation, but no one is ever turned away due to not donating money.

Program provides bread and rolls to those in need. Also provides emergency food for families living in the Temecula, Murrieta Valley area. They also provide government commodities supplied by the federal government and channeled through the Survive Food Bank of Riverside done once a month, with income verification.  In addition, they provide seniors with shopping bags of nutritional donated and surplus food. Senior food sharing is a program provided by Second Harvest Food Bank of Riverside. Donated and surplus food is distributed once a month at the Center to seniors in need. This program is designated through the federally-funded Older Americans Act.

Provide Christian Outreach Temecula/Murrieta residents. Services include: Food, clothing, counseling and assistance with transportation to Valley Restart in Hemet. Program can provide baby food and diapers when available. Rehabilitation counseling as needed is also provided.

Program distributes approximately one week worth of food. Agency may also deliver food on a case by case basis. In addition to providing food, this program also accommodates individuals with clothing, baby food, diapers, employment referrals and resume assistance.

Through the partnership of California Association of Food Banks (CAFB) and Congressional Hunger center, they have developed this website.  It is a resource for food assistance. CalFresh, previously called California’s Food Stamp Program is a government run program which helps with nutrition.  Food Stamp Application and Screening Tool (F.A.S.T.) is available for downloading.  The purpose of this site is to educate California residents about Food Stamps and help low-income residents apply for food stamps. The site also provides additional food resources.

Riverside County Nutrition Services provides the WIC program for the Temecula area. This program helps with assistance for healthy foods, nutrition and health education, breastfeeding support and additional referral to other services.

Riverside County, Community Health Agency, and the Department of Public Health have a Nutrition Service Branch for Riverside County.  The purpose of this branch is to improve the health and physical activity of communities located in Riverside County. They offer ten programs with the goal of promoting nutrition and physical activity.
